My Sweet November

Autumn has arrived upon our Greece in all its glory with splashes of raindrops and a pinch of cold breeze. The leafs have finally fell from the trees and  have colored yellow and orange the streets of Patras. If I had to choose among the seasons which one is my favorite one, I would go with autumn again and again… and again.

New month orders new life goals and I’ve already made up my mind about which are they. For starters, as you may know I have recently moved from my hometown in northern Greece to southern, and more particularly to Patras.  Lovely city, many choices from which to pick and yet I haven’t done much exploring. So, there you have it. First goal: explore my new location.

Then, I need to get my butt down and read a book and maybe write a review about it, because time has flown by and I really missed reading and interacting with all you guys. So, goals number two and three: Read and blog. Continue reading

Another Update: Decisions and Changes

aaaaaaaaaaaa

Hey guys,

I have totally neglected you and my blog, and my reading to be honest, because since I got that time- consuming job of mine, I lost it. Now, six months later, this circle is closing to allow a new one to begin.

After much consideration and a great deal of desire, I march to the unknown world of living with your long-time, long-distance boyfriend. Let’s start from scratch though, so you’ll know what I am talking about.

On 4th of April, I started working for a big company as a sales advisor – cashier and loved it! I know it doesn’t sound like a dream job, but I found myself happy while working there. Before that living home and going away seemed like a great idea, but after working there for six months the decision became difficult. Quitting seemed unbearable.

Having an angel for a boyfriend, though, helped the situation and with his persistance and strong will I found the strength and courage to move out of my old life and into the new one. Let me also add, that my best friend V was here every step of the way and her big enthousiasm for every little thing was the cherry on top! Continue reading

Summer is here: Update and comeback

IMG_20160519_124047

Hey guys!

Summer is here and so am I!

Here is a  quick update on what I’ve been up to lately and why I have been MA from blog-space. I am working such crazy hours, like day and night, I am still learning italian, it’s been going really well, and of course I am trying to make time to see my boyfriend (on skype), which is getting harder and harder to do, since he is working ,too. Furthermore, on my spare few free days I travel 482 miles (or 770 klm) to see him. So, as you can imagine my life is pretty hectic at the moment but at the same time it is, also, so enjoyable. Call me crazy, but I love it when my everyday is packed, because this way time flies and before I know it, I get to see him once more.

Now, to my bookish stuff and I need your help. I am currently struggling to finish a book, that I so much  loved the cover but I have bit of a difficulty with the story…. “The strange and beautiful sorrows of ava lavender” seemed at first such an interesting story, but at the moment it has gotten a bit boring. I am halfway to finishing it and because I hate to let go of books, someone please tell me it gets better and I have to keep reading! Please!

Well, that’s that my friends for now! Hope to hear your news and what you’ve been up to all this time. Also, your opinion on the book I am reading would be so great…

Wish you all a beautiful and crazy summer. Let the fun begin!

Sayionara! (= in greek that’s the word for flip flops)

Atlantis Books

Oia, Santorini, Greece

Hi guys!

Just found out about this and I had to share.

National Geographic and its magazine “Destinations of a Lifetime” voted for the most interesting and beautiful bookstores around the world.  First on their list was a bookstore located in Santorini, Greece. Imagine my surprise! Yes, my country is beautiful and its islands enchanting, but this little bookstore in Oia is like heaven missed a little piece of it and dropped to Oia. Cozy, warm and sweet, this bookstore provides both an ample variety of books and an awesome view to read.  I think that this summer my vacations should be planned for Santorini. Damn!

Atlantis Books was  Greg’s and Oliver’s idea, both american students, who visited Santorini in 2002 for their summer vacations. They created a dreamy place for every bookworm to visit. The island attracts visitors from all over the word,so in this bookstore you’ll find books in a variety languages, such as english, greek, german, french, spanish and even chinese.

Who else would like to visit this place? Let me hear you say ” I! ” if you would. Personally, I’m already looking for airplane tickets and hotels. Just kidding, I am just counting my money…

Check out more pictures and a video about this amazing place below…

Till next time….

Update: New language lessons

IMG_20160324_130305

Hi guys!

So sorry for being MIA once again, but my life got a little crazy lately. On top of everything that has been going on with me, sending resumes, going to interviews, teaching my students, I also decided to take up italian language lessons.

Started yesterday and I couldn’t have been more excited about it! Ever since I travelled to Rome a few years back, I fell in love with their language and culture. I think that crucial was the role of my bff as well, who always had Italy in her heart. So, it was inevitable to stay out of this italian madness.

But can you blame us? They are just like us greeks only better, at pretty much everything! And their language is so beautiful to speak and listen to. I am totally enchanted by it and I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming days…

So far, my head is so confused because I have to change the way I think concerning the letters and pronunciation, due to the fact that everything is so different than what I have used to in english… I bet I am going to make it though, I so much want to learn this language!

Arrivederci a tutti!

Till next time,

Page Turn or Slide?

Hi guys! Ready for a battle?

Today’s discussion is ebooks or books? Which one do you prefer?

Which one is cheaper?

ADR-DigitalReading2

Let’s face it. All the more readers turn to ebooks because of the price. Many books can be found for free, which is great, and all the rest are way more affordable than the real books. Also, you are only a click away from owning your favorite book and a few seconds away from reading it. Real books, especially hardbacks cost almost double the price of an ebook and even more, can take forever to reach their destination and the shipping cost most of the times is a nightmare.

Would you abandon print books?

Survey’s have shown that only 1 out of 10 people are willing to leave print books for ever. They usually read from both e-readers and print books. E-readers tend to read more books but, let’s admit it, nothing compares to the smell of a book or the feeling you have when you open it for the first time. Continue reading
