Snow Day

Hey guys!

Happy New Year to everyone of you and your beautiful families. I wanna start by giving you all my best wishes for 2017. Hope you had a lot to eat and to drink and lots of fun, because this is what Christmas holidays are all about, right?

In Greece it’s not very common to snow, and this year couldn’t have been an exception. I’ve spent all my years wishing for a white Christmas yet no one has responded to these requests so far. So,  not even a tiny little snowflake made appearance during the holidays.

The past weekend though, our wish came true and despite the fact that Christmas were far behind us we celebrated this day in snow like only we could. We threw snowballs to each other, build a snowman and laughed our hearts out. Also, albeit my advises of this kind: ” watch out, it’s slippery, you’ll fall down”, I was the only one, butt down to the snow! It’s funnier to witness it rather than reading about it, trust me.

Hope you all had fun, with or without snow. The most important thing, anyways,  is to spent your days with people that matter and with people that you laugh with.

“Rainy Tuesdays”: a new blog section

RAINY TUESDAYS1.jpg

Hey guys!

Well, the strangest things happen in our lives from time to time and so has it in mine. Ever since I arrived to Patras every Tuesday is a rainy Tuesday, for no reason at all. So, an idea was born and may i present to you my new blog section: Rainy Tuesdays.

In blog world this would mean that I have to present to you, every Tuesday, my top 3 songs and tell you a little bit about my lazy days or not. It’s going to be a messy post, just as we are when we get out in the rain and you got all frizzy hair and your jacket is pouring out water. Well, that is what “Rainy Tuesdays” will be about. A little bit of everything, anything and nothing at all.

Also, it will be an opportunity for all of you to write your messy comment, really talk about anything you want and let’s just chat! Do you like it? Hope you’ll all participate because I really liked getting to know you all and I ‘d like it if we continued this way…

Oh, and i cook now, so stay tuned for some of my yummy creations. Ask the recipe if you like. I’ll be more than happy to give it to you.

So, here’s to rainy Tuesdays and to a new leaf in my blog!

Now, how about we start with the my top 3 songs of the weekHere is what I listen to non-stop:

I kinda dance to this one…

I kinda sing to this one …

And I just love listening to this one….

What about your picks?

Well, now I am off to make an easy vanilla- chocolate cake. Thank you all for reading and I’d love to learn all about you in the comments bellow.

My Sweet November

14937844_10154249273047968_816010669_n

Autumn has arrived upon our Greece in all its glory with splashes of raindrops and a pinch of cold breeze. The leafs have finally fell from the trees and  have colored yellow and orange the streets of Patras. If I had to choose among the seasons which one is my favorite one, I would go with autumn again and again… and again.

New month orders new life goals and I’ve already made up my mind about which are they. For starters, as you may know I have recently moved from my hometown in northern Greece to southern, and more particularly to Patras.  Lovely city, many choices from which to pick and yet I haven’t done much exploring. So, there you have it. First goal: explore my new location.

Then, I need to get my butt down and read a book and maybe write a review about it, because time has flown by and I really missed reading and interacting with all you guys. So, goals number two and three: Read and blog. Continue reading

Another Update: Decisions and Changes

aaaaaaaaaaaa

Hey guys,

I have totally neglected you and my blog, and my reading to be honest, because since I got that time- consuming job of mine, I lost it. Now, six months later, this circle is closing to allow a new one to begin.

After much consideration and a great deal of desire, I march to the unknown world of living with your long-time, long-distance boyfriend. Let’s start from scratch though, so you’ll know what I am talking about.

On 4th of April, I started working for a big company as a sales advisor – cashier and loved it! I know it doesn’t sound like a dream job, but I found myself happy while working there. Before that living home and going away seemed like a great idea, but after working there for six months the decision became difficult. Quitting seemed unbearable.

Having an angel for a boyfriend, though, helped the situation and with his persistance and strong will I found the strength and courage to move out of my old life and into the new one. Let me also add, that my best friend V was here every step of the way and her big enthousiasm for every little thing was the cherry on top! Continue reading

REAL NEAT BLOG AWARD

award2.png

Hi! I got super excited when Jasmine from How Useful It Is nominated me for this award. Thank you so much!

Rules:

1. Thank and link back to the blogger who nominated you.

2. Answer the seven questions set to you.

3. Create seven questions for your nominees.

4. Nominate seven other bloggers.

Jasmine’s Questions:

1) Do you have a snack with you while you read?

I am always eating, mainly junk food, they are my Achilles’ heel sort of thing.
2) Do you ask your real life friends to read more books just because you love to read?

I have asked my boyfriend but he is more of a digital nerd kind of guy so, I quit. Lucky me, my bff is a huge book nerd (also the one who introduced me to the bookworm world) and I am beyond happy that we can share our love for books among other stuff.
3) Do you memorize quotes from your favorite books?

I try but most of the times fail to remember them. I keep them written, though, in a cute little notebook of mine.
4) How many books do you have on your nightstand right now?

Just one, that makes reading so difficult for me, because I can’t quit it but I can’t keep on reading it either…
5) Why is it that you like to read?

Because I get to live lifes so different from my own, participate in adventure that I won’t get to have and make imaginary friends that can be super excited.
6) Do you read one book from beginning to end before start a new one?

Yes. I hate quitting books in the middle and I can’t read two at the same time.
7) What is your favorite book of all time?

Harry Potter for sure.

Summer is here: Update and comeback

IMG_20160519_124047

Hey guys!

Summer is here and so am I!

Here is a  quick update on what I’ve been up to lately and why I have been MA from blog-space. I am working such crazy hours, like day and night, I am still learning italian, it’s been going really well, and of course I am trying to make time to see my boyfriend (on skype), which is getting harder and harder to do, since he is working ,too. Furthermore, on my spare few free days I travel 482 miles (or 770 klm) to see him. So, as you can imagine my life is pretty hectic at the moment but at the same time it is, also, so enjoyable. Call me crazy, but I love it when my everyday is packed, because this way time flies and before I know it, I get to see him once more.

Now, to my bookish stuff and I need your help. I am currently struggling to finish a book, that I so much  loved the cover but I have bit of a difficulty with the story…. “The strange and beautiful sorrows of ava lavender” seemed at first such an interesting story, but at the moment it has gotten a bit boring. I am halfway to finishing it and because I hate to let go of books, someone please tell me it gets better and I have to keep reading! Please!

Well, that’s that my friends for now! Hope to hear your news and what you’ve been up to all this time. Also, your opinion on the book I am reading would be so great…

Wish you all a beautiful and crazy summer. Let the fun begin!

Sayionara! (= in greek that’s the word for flip flops)

Meet: Cinzia Bolognesi

IMG_0383__880

Hi guys!

As many of you propably know I started italian language lessons only a couple of weeks ago. I am a big fan of the italian culture and people so, I am so excited that I finally got the change to learn more about them. On top of everything, I am a huge instagrammer and for that I thought I should dedicate this post to my two loves, Italy and Instagram.

May I present to you Cinzia Bolognesi, an italian photographer and illustrator, whose work I follow and absolutely adore. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think!

One morning, some time ago, I was having breakfast on a black sheet that I normally use for work. Looking at that sheet with cookies on it, I started drawing some stories unconsciously.

I just loved it, so since then it has become a wonderful morning ritual with my cup of coffee when I’m not in a rush.

I love her! Do you?

Bookstore: Atlantis Books

Atlantis Books

Oia, Santorini, Greece

Hi guys!

Just found out about this and I had to share.

National Geographic and its magazine “Destinations of a Lifetime” voted for the most interesting and beautiful bookstores around the world.  First on their list was a bookstore located in Santorini, Greece. Imagine my surprise! Yes, my country is beautiful and its islands enchanting, but this little bookstore in Oia is like heaven missed a little piece of it and dropped to Oia. Cozy, warm and sweet, this bookstore provides both an ample variety of books and an awesome view to read.  I think that this summer my vacations should be planned for Santorini. Damn!

IMG_5804_edit1.jpg

Atlantis Books was  Greg’s and Oliver’s idea, both american students, who visited Santorini in 2002 for their summer vacations. They created a dreamy place for every bookworm to visit. The island attracts visitors from all over the word,so in this bookstore you’ll find books in a variety languages, such as english, greek, german, french, spanish and even chinese.

Who else would like to visit this place? Let me hear you say ” I! ” if you would. Personally, I’m already looking for airplane tickets and hotels. Just kidding, I am just counting my money…

Check out more pictures and a video about this amazing place below…

What do you think guys? Do you like it as much as I do? Yay or Nay?

I’d love to see your opinions in the comments below… Thanks!

Till next time….

Libraries of the World

Sou-Fujimoto-Musashino-Art-University-Museum-Library-11-visualization.jpg

Spiral of Life: The Musashino Art University Museum & Library

The Musashino Art University Library is in fact a library made of bookshelves. Sou Fujimoto’s vision of combining searchability and strollability into one system is translated into a spiral shape, in the center of the building, covered with wooden shelves. The spiral represents a “clock of numbers”, each number stands for a certain book category, so finding a specific book is really easy, while at the same time its shape and the labyrinthine paths between book-lined walls welcome the visitor who just wants to walk around. Small reading corners are preferred instead of large tables, so that everyone has their privacy and doesn’t get bored if they have to spend a lot of hours there. Although it might seem that the bookshelves are supporting the structure, that is not the case.

Update: New language lessons

IMG_20160324_130305

Hi guys!

So sorry for being MIA once again, but my life got a little crazy lately. On top of everything that has been going on with me, sending resumes, going to interviews, teaching my students, I also decided to take up italian language lessons.

Started yesterday and I couldn’t have been more excited about it! Ever since I travelled to Rome a few years back, I fell in love with their language and culture. I think that crucial was the role of my bff as well, who always had Italy in her heart. So, it was inevitable to stay out of this italian madness.

But can you blame us? They are just like us greeks only better, at pretty much everything! And their language is so beautiful to speak and listen to. I am totally enchanted by it and I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming days…

So far, my head is so confused because I have to change the way I think concerning the letters and pronunciation, due to the fact that everything is so different than what I have used to in english… I bet I am going to make it though, I so much want to learn this language!

Arrivederci a tutti!

Till next time,
